Case study – Peat Substitution with inseroMat

Commonly peat is used in punnets to grow cress.  However it is widely held that the use of peat is not environmentally acceptable particularly when alternative growing media are available.

inseroMat is being used successfully as a peat replacement in punneted cress production.
It has been found by growers that inseroMat is an ideal peat replacement.
inseroMat is:

  • produced from sustainable and managed resources
  • completely uniform
  • completely traceable
  • food safe
  • free of plant and human pathogens

The use of inseroMat as a replacement for peat has significant commercial advantages:

  • Lower transport costs
  • Lower storage and handling costs
  • Can be used as a fuel source
  • Can be used as an animal feed
